The Ganesha Football team has their very own Golden Belt presented to hardworking players. The Golden Belt was first inspired by the Alabama football team, Crimson Tide.

A few years ago, the Crimson Tide created the turnover chain last season. The chain generated a ton of buzz around the program and opened the floodgates for other schools to unveil their own distinctly less original pieces to celebrate takeaways.

The Golden belt was custom made just for the football team. It took about 2-4 weeks to manufacture. Then Ganesha’s Baseball team was also inspired to create their own piece and so uses their own belt to celebrate. Coach Cayer, head coach of the football team comments that the Golden Belt “represents a players effort, hard work, and dedication.”

Players usually receive the belt when continuously showing up to practice and working hard throughout the week, including games too. Zaquand Irby by far has received the belt the most out of all players. He has been able to earn the belt at least 5 times. At least 20 to 30 of the players on the football team have been able to receive the belt and only about 5 or 6 players have not received the belt. Players comment that when they’re able to earn the belt they feel accomplished and motivated to keep on working hard.
